Machine Answerability Evidence-Gap Remediation and Dispute Escalation Lab

Missing evidence is not permission to guess—and missing authority is not permission to blame the nearest human.

Start from a released evidence contract and immutable assurance packet. Identify what is missing, request the exact record, restore independent review and corrective authority, and preserve the difference between remediation and responsibility.

What is evidence-gap remediation?

It is a bounded synthetic process that identifies a missing record or authority, assigns an allowed remediation step, and creates a new review branch without altering the immutable source packet or ownership arrangement.

Read the supporting section

Why is requesting evidence different from producing it?

A request establishes that a record was sought. It does not establish that the record exists, was supplied, is authentic, is complete, or supports the bounded claim.

Read the supporting section

What does no authority to infer mean?

When a required institutional owner is absent, the lab preserves the gap instead of assigning the duty to the nearest operator or treating an interface click as authorization.

DO NOT FILL AN EVIDENCE GAP WITH A HUMAN SCAPEGOAT.

Requesting evidence is not producing it. Preserving a record is not proving it. Opening a challenge is not resolving it. A human click is not a liability transfer.

Six distinctions that must survive

Remediation fails when different questions are collapsed into one status badge.

The lab keeps requests, evidence, custody, support, challenge, assurance, release authority, history, and responsibility separate.

evidence request

A named request identifies what is missing. It does not establish that the record was produced, authentic, complete, or supportive.

record preservation

Custody and immutability preserve what was recorded. They do not prove factual accuracy or sufficiency.

challenge state

An opened challenge preserves dissent. Resolution requires evidence access, independent review, and an owner able to act.

assurance and release

Qualifying or suspending an assurance claim is not the same as denying or authorizing real operational release.

correction and history

A factual correction creates a new accepted statement while retaining the prior statement and reason for change.

remediation and responsibility

Fixing an evidence contract does not decide guilt, legal liability, command responsibility, compensation, punishment, or exoneration.

Requested records3

A request is not proof of production.

Produced records0

Synthetic branch only; production does not prove truth.

Packet historyPreserved

AARP-SNAP-002 remains immutable.

Legal responsibilityNot determined

No blame or liability score is created.

No authority to infer

The missing duty may not be assigned to the nearest operator.

The selected synthetic branch currently names the required bounded owners. If any owner becomes absent, the result fails closed rather than transferring the missing duty to the operator shown in the event log.

Exact gap register

Every gap remains named, bounded, and independently visible.

A gap can be open, requested, resolved in a new synthetic branch, or absent from the selected baseline.

AEG-GAP-CUSTODYNot present in selected baseline

Source custody or append-oriented history is incomplete

The review cannot reconstruct the origin, custody, transformation history, packet identity, or prior version reliably enough for the bounded claim.

AEG-GAP-EVIDENCE-ACCESSRequested, not produced

Required underlying evidence is unavailable

One or more contract records are missing. Requesting the records is different from receiving and verifying them.

Verification remains controlled by the producer or custodian

The same production chain controls evidence creation, preservation, verification, or interpretation without a demonstrably independent review layer.

No effective independent challenge path

A person or institution cannot challenge the evidence, assumptions, interpretation, owner conclusion, or continued reliance through a released independent path.

AEG-GAP-SUSPENSIONNot present in selected baseline

Suspension authority is absent

No competent owner can stop reliance while evidence, versions, assumptions, or authority are disputed or stale.

Authority · Blocking
AEG-GAP-CORRECTIONNot present in selected baseline

Correction ownership is absent

No released owner can issue a bounded correction while preserving the earlier statement and the reason for change.

Authority · Blocking
AEG-GAP-RETIREMENTNot present in selected baseline

Retirement ownership is absent

No released owner can end reliance on a claim, packet, configuration, or system state that is no longer supportable.

Authority · Blocking
AEG-GAP-HISTORYNot present in selected baseline

Earlier versions are not independently preserved

A later remediation could overwrite or obscure the exact packet, evidence state, or ownership arrangement that existed before the dispute.

AEG-GAP-ACCEPTANCENot present in selected baseline

Bounded acceptance is not separated from production

The institution producing the evidence also controls the bounded acceptance decision without an independent or operationally competent acceptance owner.

Non-destructive dispute escalation

Escalation preserves evidence and narrows reliance. It does not rewrite the earlier packet.

The same seven-stage path is used for every synthetic branch so a request, challenge, review, reliance decision, correction, retirement, and closure cannot be silently conflated.

Persistent unknowns

What the remediated contract still cannot establish.

Answerability reduces ambiguity. It does not replace competent legal, institutional, technical, or operational judgment.

  • A named owner may still lack competence, independence, evidence access, resources, legal authority, or practical power to act.
  • A produced record may remain inaccurate, biased, incomplete, irrelevant, stale, unlawfully obtained, or unsupported by independent evidence.
  • A resolved contract gap does not prove that the underlying assurance claim is true, that a real system is safe, or that deployment is lawful.
  • A suspended or retired claim does not determine who is legally or morally responsible for the earlier event.
  • Operational release authority, certification, accreditation, compliance, procurement fitness, customer deployment, performance, guilt, innocence, punishment, compensation, and blame allocation remain outside this lab.
